Colored Braces you say? Well, options for braces have changed drastically over the last several years and continue to evolve with technology. And there are lots of great options available at A Perfect Smile Orthodontics.
Splash some Color with Traditional Braces at our McAllen, Texas Practice!
Traditional metal brackets are now much smaller and flatter, making them less noticeable and more comfortable. Metal braces are typically made of stainless steel or titanium.
As well, traditional braces can be given a bit of extra pizzazz using different colored rubber bands, as you can see in the photo. There are options in every imaginable color.
When braces are applied, first the bracket is bonded to each tooth by a special glue to hold them in place. The archwire is the metal band that connects all of the brackets together and small elastics (or rubber bands) are placed around each bracket to bind them to the wire.
Although these are not colored braces per se, the rubber bands definitely add a nice splash of color to your smile.
Elastics come in multitudes of colors, including clear and white. You can create completely different looks by using different colored bands and even mix and match colors! Since they are changed out every few weeks when your braces are adjusted, you can change the look of your braces with just a switch of elastics colors.
Bling it up with Gold Braces
There’s another cool option for colored braces. Now, you can opt for gold braces too! Particularly popular with female patients, they are like jewelry for your teeth and make quite a fashion statement!
The brackets and the connecting wires are gold, creating a very aesthetic flair to your smile. Aside from the fact that they are gold and look like a million dollars, they function just like traditional braces.
Now you see them, now you don’t: Clear Braces
We also offer Clear Braces to our patients. These are made from a strong porcelain material which makes them extremely stain resistant. The brackets are a little larger than their metal counterparts, however, but as they are clear, the entire tooth is still visible because you can see right through the braces. Clear elastics and a lighter metal band color can make them appear almost invisible. This is an especially good option for teens and adults. Read more about Clear Braces HERE.
Invisalign is another option for those who qualify. (Not all orthodontic problems can be treated with Invisalign). It is a hard, plastic mold that fits over your teeth and is designed to align teeth the same way that braces do. They are fitted exactly for your teeth and changed out every few weeks. The great thing about Invisalign is that they are almost undetectable because of them being clear, and they are 100% removable for eating and drinking. Read more about Invisalign HERE.
